Tests which are not helpfuL
TPO – thyroid peroxidase antibodies (used to diagnose Hashimoto’s)
Thyroid Panel or Profile – often includes T3 uptake, total T4 or T3, or free T4 index, none of which are helpful for thyroid cancer patients.
TSH with reflex – if TSH is within the lab reference range, free T4 will not be run.
Always get a copy and check your lab order for the correct tests and diagnostic codes.
